Adjusting Your ENHANCER® Cushion

Your new ENHANCER AIR IN PLACE®  cushion is equipped with two valves. The outer valve controls air movement in the center bucket section. The inner valve controls air movement in the outer rows and the abductor.

NOTE: Your DRY FLOATATION product is most effective when properly adjusted. Protect it from pins and other sharp objects and exposure to hot cigarette ashes.

WARNING: According to United States Coast Guard, ROHO DRY FLOATATION products should not be used as a water flotation device.

Replacing Valves:

To get the maximum therapeutic benefit and comfort from your ENHANCER cushion, follow these easy steps:
STEP 1 Turn cushion valve counter-clockwise to open.
STEP 2 Place hand pump hose over outer valve and inflate until cushion arches slightly.
STEP 3 Remove pump hose from valve and turn valve clockwise to close. (Repeat steps 1 through 3 using inner valve).
STEP 4 With cushion in this over-inflated condition, place the individual on the cushion in his/her normal sitting position with arm and footrests properly placed.
STEP 5 Place your hand between center bucket section of cushion and the individual's deepest bony prominence.
STEP 6 With your hand in place, slowly turn valve counter-clockwise to release some air to immerse the individual in the cushion. When you can barely move your fingertips (approximately .5" or 1.25 cm) between the individuals deepest prominence and the cushion base, pinch valve stem and turn valve clockwise to close.

OPTIONAL: Outside rows and abductor may be adjusted according to positioning needs or comfort level. If outside rows are adjusted, the lowest bony prominence must be checked again to ensure that the individual has not bottomed out.

CAUTION: DO NOT BOTTOM OUT! If any part of the individual is touching the cushion base, too much air has been released and the therapeutic value of the cushion will be lost.

To remedy, repeat the entire adjustment procedure.

Important Note: Be sure to check the cushion daily to ensure that you have not "bottomed out", and the cushion is properly adjusted.
